Cheshire and World of Warcraft (The Unate Version)

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 20, 2008, 12:17 AM

Sorry guys, dA ate my journal for a while! All better now!

Inbox Love

My darling buttercups, I would first like to say that I love you all! My inbox is currently at around 300 messages from the past few days. So, I have not returned comments/check journals in a few days because of: school, friends, new kitten, and WoW. I will be getting around to it soon though! I promise!!

The Cheshire Kitten

My grandmother sets off a cat beacon. I don't know why, it's not like she necessarily likes them (except for her possessed cat.) But, none the less, they congregate around both our houses (my grandmother lives next door.) They each get some silly nickname and also equally mistreated by said demonic cat (named Callie, the calico). There is another calico, my mother's cat (they both live outdoors the majority of the time) whose name is Lulu.

I'm not fond of our feline friends, they're tricky and fickle.  I'm usually found snuggling with my adorable (and shaggy) black & white long haired wiener mix of 5 years, Tuxedo. There have been some that purred their way into my heart (consequently, the only animals I've ever named). There was Boo, who wandered up three Halloweens ago. A tailless, constant meower who vanished a year later. (Keep in mind, we don't really adopt the ones that wander up as much as we just feed and pet them.) Then there was Steve, who I really did love. He was a strange little white and striped thing. Sort of pathetic, and he took a liking to me. So I named him Stevie Wonder and he stayed at my bedroom window for several months before disappearing as well.

I assume both of these cats were adopted, or wandered back to their houses. I live in quiet neighborhood, and I don't worry as much about their safety since there are so MANY cats that wander from house to house exploring.

The most recent vagabond was a kitten, mewing in our gutters for two full days... too scared to wander and too frightened to approach. We have a long gutter system that stretches beneath our whole yard, breaking only at our neighbor's drive-way and continuing as their gutter. The gray tabby kitten sat at the opening of our gutter when I first saw it. It mewed for its mother or brothers and sisters. I bent over to pet it, but it ran so quickly that it appeared to have disappeared from the long gutter! I was shocked! When I got back up to look around, he was in the neighbor's gutter, sitting exactly as he was, looking at me, and mewing. It was so strange!

Well, we finally got him accustomed to us. We have yet to find an owner, so I decided to adopt him until he wanders off when he gets older. I don't think he was ever properly weened. He is very, very small and loves to be held. He's also such an explorer! And very hyper! At the same time, he's so sweet. He does this weird thing with his front paws. You know how kittens and cats sharpen them when they're on a blanket or rug? Well, he does that in midair--- constantly. It's so cute. And his paws are gigantic compared to his itty-bitty kitten body. He's just darling.

I've been trying a few names on him. My first choice was TARDIS (Doctor Who fans will understand), but my mother quickly decided if that would be his name she would call him ReTARDIS. That name was quickly amended, and I'm trying some other ones out. I thought about the obvious ones: Sawyer and Ben Linus (calling him Benlinus, like one word, haha.) I'm also thinking about other names like Cerberus, Angelo, and Vincent. The two names that I'm most fond of are Shakespeare and Cheshire. At this moment, I'm trying out the name Cheshire to see if it sticks.

World of Warcraft

After the third day of my ten day trial, I decided to make WoW a semi-permanent addiction. I've been downloading the damn game for the past two days now (long story). However, it should be finished by tonight so I can start looking into guilds to join. Currently I have a lvl 8 druid night elf (Starsing) and a lvl 9 human rogue (Evesolice). I play in the realm called Maiev, a PvP one. I play with a few irl friends who got me addicted, but I would love to play with any deviants. If you play on Maiev, or want to reroll with me just for kicks send me a note!

Inbox Sex

If deviations could be sex (I'm using this in the "holy friggin' awesome context, like one would use "phat" or "sick". This is all because I wanted to pull you in with a catchy headline, not because there is any... actual sex. You perv.)

My Droll Day

I feel like making some sort of little journal entry about my personal life. Humor me or GTFO, I don't care. I'm sick.

Literally.

My throat hurts so much. I suspect the person who had their tongue shoved in my mouth a few days ago gave it to me (I jest, you know I'm not a dirty whore. :eyes:)

I think I'm getting a fever too. Fuck. Why on the weekend? I'm so miserable, and there isn't enough soup in this damn house.

A few of my friends from class and I, decided to skip and go see Prince Caspian. We just wanted an excuse to skip, really... that class is so boring. My math professor is a nice guy. He recently had a heart attack and I feel bad, but I could fall asleep in his class! Anyway, I'm dedicating this weekend on catch up work since the final is just around the corner.

So we went to see Prince Caspian and got an ungodly amount of popcorn--- half of which, may or may not have been eaten. (It was dark, things were flying... it's hard to tell.) The movie was really good! I've heard so many bad things about it, but I was on the edge of my seat! Go see it if you have a chance.

After I made my way back near my house (they live a few towns over, it's about a 25-30 min. daily commute to school.) I stopped by our local used book store. Those who know me, will know that I detest buying new books, which is why I scrounge around old book stores. I hate over priced literature, it's dull and new and no one aside from the book maker has laid eyes on it.

Our book store is so useless. The woman who works in it is nice enough. She has a tiny barking dog that's a bit like a cute rat, but besides her rat dog is pretty much the most useless book store worker ever. I bring her author names and lists and she's not familiar with any of them. She didn't even know who wrote The Tempest for Chrissakes. Also, she fails to find one book I've ever asked her about. She'll point me to the genre's shelf (if she knows the genre). I find it hard to believe she doesn't know whats on the damn shelf SINCE SHE STOCKED IT HERSELF.

Anyway, I brought her a whole list and she was zero help. ZERO. Apparently, people in our area don't read good books and therefore blow ass. If you're curious, here is my list (it's a collection of book titles or authors):

Michael Bishop
Greg Bear
Illuminatus by Robert Shea
H.P. Lovecraft
A Brief History of Time
Robin Hobb
Tim Powers
The Drawing of the Dark
Expiration Date
Bloodworld
House of Stairs
Agent of Chaus
Of Men and Monsters

I'm most angry that they don't have the friggin' Dark Tower series.

Anyway, I ended up purchasing a few books anyway. (The only ones I could find remotely interesting that I don't already own.) I bought:

R is for Rocket by Ray Bradbury
I, Robot by Isaac Asmov
The Time Machine by H.G. Wells (My 2nd copy)
The Island by Peter Benchley

I've also recently purchased </i>The Book of Air and Shadows</i> by Michael Gruber from Hastings. If you guys have read any of these, tell me if you liked them! Also, feel free to make any suggestions!

I just finished Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. It's a LIFE CHANGING book, the link to the full book being read allowed on YouTube is always in my journal footer. Seriously, read this 200 page book, it will change your life forever.

I'm currently reading The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. It's funny, I tried to read him once when I was much younger, but I found his writing style soooo boring. Now, I actually kind of like it. A friend suggested him when I mentioned how I've developed a liking for Vonnegut's work. I remembered that I had this book collecting dust on my shelf, so I figured I'd give it a try. I've also cracked into R is for Rocket, which is a bit cliche for sci-fi already, but is saved by it's great descriptions such as:

"There was this fence where we pressed our faces and felt the wind turn warm and held the fence and forgot who we were or where we came from but dreamed of who we might be and where we might go.... (One of the few ellipsis that I accept exist.)

and

"The other pirates were okay. Sid Rossen, Mac Leslyn, Earl Marnee, they knew how to jump around like all the kids, and they loved rockets, too, but I had the feeling that they wouldn't be doing what Ralph and I would do some day. Ralph and I wanted the stars for each of us, more than we would want a fistful of clear-cut blue-white diamonds."

Featured Lyrics

I can't stop listening to this song. :aww: I love his voice. Warning Sign by Coldplay

A warning sign,
I missed the good part then I realized,
I started looking and the bubble burst.
I started looking for excuses.

Come on in,
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in,
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
That I started looking for a warning sign.

When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.

A warning sign,
You came back to haunt me and I realized,
That you were an island and I passed you by,
You were an island to discover.

Come on in,
I've gotta tell you what state I'm in,
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
That I started looking for a warning sign.

When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.

And I'm tired,
I should not have let you go.

So I crawl back into your open arms.
Yes, I crawl back into your open arms.
And I crawl back into your open arms.
Yes, I crawl back into your open arms...

Gosh, I just love this band and their mellow tones. Their CD came out this week and Tuesday afternoon me and two friends celebrated it with a bang! Literally, I stole some of my aunt's old fireworks from 4th of July and we had some fun! We also watched Spiderman 2 and Shakespeare in Love. The CD is called Viva la Vida and I suggest you check out this rocking piece of art!!

Note: Sorry I couldn't include recent dA events etc in this journal. As I said, I've been dling WoW for a few days and my internet is unbearable slow. I still love you though!

Final Words

As for you, my sweet pumpkin pies, I hope you all have a beautiful day. Be kind, pass love around! Thank you for having the courtesy enough to read my journal. As you know, each journal takes a while to write. If you would like me to feature you, a friend, or a project please note me.

Thank you everyone who has been so lovely. And remember, you can just type "LOVELOVELOVE" in my comments and it would make my day.

I'm sure you'll find the right name for the kitten :)

I'm a wower as well, though my characters are on Dark Iron (a couple of 70's on the horde side), been playing for about 2 1/2 years now :) and looking forward to the new expansion due out later this year.

Might have to look at rolling a toon on Maiev to see what the population's like there.

Population is pretty big, lots of new people because it's a recommended server. Not bad though.
