That's Bullshit

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 22, 2009, 3:39 PM

Fuck that

Someone reported my Ben Linus stamp and... surprise, dA yanked it off of dA. Hrm... yes, I'm sure THAT rule is enforced ALL the time. Whatever. I'll probably be yanking all dA resources (dA journals, stamps, textures, etc) from my gallery within the next week. So save them to your computer if you want to keep them.

I'm obviously not immune from any dA rules, but I would like to see all of the "Twilight" stamps, anime stamps, ANY show promoting a TV show using their images yanked as well if you're going to do that.

 Whatever, man. I thought it was okay to use copyrighted material on stamps. That's what I've always heard. That's what I've ALWAYS. SEEN. ON. THIS. SITE.

I'm not being "anti-dA" or whatever. I'm just tired after a long day. After the royal butt screw I got from Suggestions forum over the lousy idea I had to improve the site and now this... I'm starting to wonder where all this community spirit I loved went to? I'm too tired to deal with people being assholes at work and commuting on the highway, I don't want to deal with it here too.

:peace:

Arseholes o__o

Um, I'd say that 75% of all stamps involve copyrighted images and the promotion of a fandom, etc. That's sort of the point of stamps. If they are so concerned with ass-covering, there should be a different approach to submitting stamps...

Now, I don't really want Deviantart to become Flikr, but shit, stamps have actual effort put into them. Some people just upload screencaps, and go unnoticed. :XD:

Oh Linda sorry to hear that you've had a stamp removed cos of copyright.

Maybe we should go on a miscat spree in the stamps gallery?

It's daft cos there are so many stamps that carry the images or fonts of famous shows/films.

Please don't run off and take all your DA sexiness with you. :cries:

(P.s. I've given up on the suggestions forum after being moaned at twice for posting in threads that are too old, even though my suggestion was exactly the same.)

The rule is a bit silly when you think of stamps since the majority of stamps are going to have copied material in them anyways, they'd really have to clean the whole gallery.

The stamp gallery is a freakin' mess... and although I knew dA had a pretty hardliner attitude about your work being your own, I thought they'd given up on policing the stamps gallery.

...fact is though, even if they've given up patrolling it proper, they'll still deal with any reports that come in. I'd bet that's what happened.

Anyhow. I've always hated stamps, so it's kinda hard for me to be sympathetic here ;p

What I've learnt over the years, is not to get to offended when something is deleted. Maybe we were wrong, maybe they were wrong... but it shouldn't matter enough to absolutely spoil our time here. I certainly wouldn't like to see you pull all your resources down. That'd be kinda hypocritical or something.

Maybe it's just my browser (IE) but your journal is almost impossible to read -tiny black fonts on a dark brown background doesn't work very well...

I fully support you on this, but I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by taking down all your other stuff. An act of protest? The administration won't notice, let alone care.

aww hun it does suck when a piece of your work gets taken down, but I have to agree with DA on this one.
copy right photos are protected from them being used for what ever means, ok its only a lickle picture and the owners of the copy rights probebly dosnt mind that you have used it, but if they did mind DA could be in a heap load of trouble in letting you keep it up. DA would be risking the site being shut down and be fined so basically they are covering their own backs by taking down any items that may have a copy right attached to them.
However there is nothing stopping you from making the stamp using a picture that you have copied ie drawn yourself with the likeness of the photo used, that way you have made the picture your own. :)
Dont be disheartened by it Im sure DA dosnt look on it being a personal thing and havnt made an example of you, they pull pictures down all the time, not to be nasty or petty, they do it because its the law.. some say its a stupid law and in some ways it is but it has to be carried out to stop copy right theft, even if its a little picture.
